Godecharle’s blurred or extremely detailed black-and-white images have a common denominator: light, a tool he uses to tell as much as possible with as little means as possible. In this minimalist approach, the sunlight, piercing through the foliage during his walks, plays the leading role in a timeless form of non-verbal communication. It is through the light the artist captures in his images that Godecharle lets go of the subject.
The mood tied to the moment shines through, hoping to border on something universal that our eyes can not so much register but are able to identify. The easily recognisable image has made way for a visually tangible tonality.

 

 

 

 

Godecharles geblurde of net uiterst gedetailleerde zwart-witbeelden hebben een grote gemene deler: het licht, een element dat hij inzet om met zo weinig mogelijk middelen zo veel mogelijk te vertellen.
In die minimalistische aanpak laat hij de zon die tijdens zijn wandelingen door het gebladerde priemt de hoofdrol spelen in een tijdloze vorm van non-verbale communicatie. Via het licht dat hij in zijn beelden kan vangen laat Godecharle het onderwerp los. In de plaats daarvan schemert de stemming door die gebonden is aan het moment, in de hoop iets universeels te benaderen dat onze ogen eerder kunnen registreren dan identificeren. Het makkelijk herkenbare beeld heeft plaats gemaakt voor een visueel voelbare tonaliteit.
