In the exhibition "dus toch geen toeval" ("so it is no coincidence after all") a series of artworks by Dirk Vander Eecken and Perry Roberts will be exhibited this summer in the peaceful and natural surroundings of Kasteelstraat1. Although both artists approach their work from different perspective, they tend to meet each other in a particular relationship to the canvas, more specifically in their affiliation to monochrome and formality as well as displaying a technological or mechanical influence. While coincidence may well exist as a possibility in the composition of their work, it does by no means imply randomness or irregularity. The influence of causal connections is given the necessary attention during each creation in order to reach essential forms, whereby one uses a grid and the other a needle and thread. The structure of their visual language evokes colour as light and abstract as pure form.
In de tentoonstelling “dus toch geen toeval” verschijnt deze zomer een reeks composities van Dirk Vander Eecken en Perry Roberts in de serene natuurlijke omgeving van Kasteelstraat1. Beide kunstenaars vertrekken in hun oeuvre vanuit andere uitgangspunten, maar lijken elkaar te raken in een bepaalde verhouding tot het doek, in hun verbinding met het monochrome en het formele en in de act van het technologische of mechanische. Toevalligheid is bij het samenstellen van hun werk dan wel aanwezig als mogelijkheid, maar slaat niet over in willekeurigheid of grilligheid. De invloed van oorzakelijke verbanden krijgt tijdens het creëren de nodige aandacht om tot essentiële vlakken te komen, waarbij de ene een raster en de ander naald en draad hanteert. De structuur van hun beeldtaal is een uitnodiging voor kleur als licht en het abstracte als pure vorm.
